Plazas Sur / Punta Carrión

Route: The tour begins with a land transfer from Puerto Ayora to the Itabaca Channel, in the north of Santa Cruz Island. From there, we board the assigned boat for an unforgettable journey to the South Plaza Islands, one of the most iconic wildlife-watching destinations in the Galapagos, located approximately one hour away by boat.

One of the highlights of the hike is the opportunity to observe, in a single space, all three species of iguanas that inhabit the archipelago: the yellow-hued terrestrial ones, the marine ones that rest on the coastal rocks, and the rare hybrid iguanas, the result of crossbreeding between the two species. This natural phenomenon, unique in the world, makes Plazas Sur a site of extremely high ecological and scientific value.

After completing the hike, we headed by boat to Punta Carrión, a bay with crystal-clear turquoise waters located on the eastern coast of Santa Cruz.
